Which mass finishing machine do I need?

Temps de lecture : 3 minutes

Three mass finishing machines: dual machine, circular vibrator and linear vibrator.

The finishing result on parts depends largely on the choice of mass finishing machine used.

With the large number of mass finishing machines available, it is not always easy to know which machine to choose.

Drawing on our more than 15 years of experience in mass finishing, we will give you advice to help you choose your mass finishing machine.

First of all, since vibrators work differently, certain very important points need to be taken into consideration, such as:

      • Part dimensions: The size of the parts to be processed plays an important role in the choice of machine.

For finishing small or fragile parts, we recommend choosing a small circular vibrator . The HT series vibrator, the VB1 series or the HT2D dryer will be the most suitable.

For processing large parts, we recommend opting for a linear vibrator, ideal for this type of part.

        • The nature of the application: This is one of the first questions to ask yourself. To deburr, descale, radius, polish or clean your parts, you have two options. Both circular vibrators and linear vibrators will give you excellent results.

In addition, some parts require drying at the end of the process.

For these parts, there are two possibilities:

          • Combine a dryer with one of the machines mentioned above.

        OR

An exceptional 2-in-1 machine that processes and dries your parts in one and the same machine.

By choosing this option, you ensure the most complete processing possible.

              • Part fragility: The fragility of the parts is another major factor to take into account. When processing fragile parts, some may be damaged by knocking against each other. To avoid this, we recommend placing separation carousels in the processing tub of your machine. These will protect the surface of the parts from any damage and deliver flawless results.

                • Space: It is not the first thing that comes to mind, but the size of your workshop is just as important a factor as the previous ones. Not only does it determine the size of the machine you will use to process your parts, but it will also ensure that the process runs properly in the best possible conditions, while allowing your technicians to work in a pleasant environment suited to the process they are in charge of.

Which accessories can I add to my machine?

Once you have considered all the points above, you should feel more confident about choosing the mass finishing machine you need.

But what about choosing accessories ? With so many accessories available, it is not easy to find your way without the help of an expert in the field…

It is important to consider whether or not to include an accessory, as this matters depending on the parts to be processed.

At the end of the mass finishing process, some parts are difficult to separate from the media. In these cases, we recommend choosing a machine such as the S series circular vibrator, for several reasons:

This vibrator has a separation system that offers a double benefit: on the one hand, it protects the parts during processing, and on the other, it facilitates the process by avoiding any difficulties related to separating them manually from the media.

This is also the case for certain difficult applications such as stainless steel ball burnishing, for which we recommend a B series circular vibrator, which combines a powerful motor, special springs and a special rubber lining, all specifically designed to facilitate the movement of the parts.

If your application requires parts to be dried at the end of the mass finishing treatment, we advise you to include a dryer, the choice of which will depend on the specific features of the parts.

Sometimes it is not possible to use plant-based media for drying certain parts because of certain risks, as is the case with blind-hole parts, for example.

You can then opt for dryers that use a centrifugal process, such as our CFD dryer or the CD series dryer, both of which work without media.
